Inside the box

Grown-ups asked us for a set that cleans up as easily as it comes out, and the Fun Tub is our answer. Twelve cutters make three classic shapes and nine animals — think dogs, cats, fish, and alligators. Seven more tools join them: three pretend fruit stampers, an extruder with a rail, a roller, and a knife. That is 19 pieces in total.

Five 2-ounce cans ride along in blue, orange, teal, purple, and red. Roll a sheet flat, press out an alligator, stamp a silly fruit on its back — why not? When the rainy afternoon winds down, every piece goes back in the tub and the lid keeps the whole set together for next time. We made it for kids 3 and up.
